My watch ultra did the same thing last night.
I noticed my watch had died rather quickly since my last charge. I put it on the charger last night and it disconnected from my phone. When I put my watch back on it told me I needed to disconnect and reset. It's like my phone completely "forgot" my watch. I was not able to readd it or connect at all.

Yes mine did the same thing after the update. Died fast and when I charged it, said the same thing.. I had to unpaired and reset the watch and add it back like a new watch. Fortunately it had backed up so some things were saved.
