I do not think it's the watch itself, I think there's some disconnect between the watch and the phone that occurred recently. Since there is no companion app on the watch for Messenger, the replies must go through the connection to the phone from the watch, not just out via mobile data on the watch.  If there was a companion app, the messages would go out on their own via mobile data or wi-fi depending on how the watch was connecting to the outside world.  It's just a guess on my part, though, but I think it makes sense. Doesn't explain how the messages are getting to the watch in the first place unless it's a return response error. Like the roach motel, things get in but can't get out. šŸ˜€

We'll just have to wait for the next Messenger update to see

It happens that I just got an incoming message from FBM and when I tried to respond from the watch, there was a very brief flash message (blink and you don't see it) that the connection could not be completed, then it pretended to send, but went nowhere and the response remained on my watch screen unsent. So, looks like it's definitely not communicating with the phone on the outbound.  If it continues, this will be a problem for me, as certain of my contacts prefer communicating with me via FBM and if I have to drag my phone out its nest to respond, it kind of defeats the purpose of having the watch.

It is also possible that the fact that we were ever able to respond to FBM messages was the bug, since there is no companion app on the watch to the Members app and, while I can see the notifications on the watch, there is no way for me to respond to them - I only get the "show on phone" option. Do you think it's possible that this is a plot by Samsung to force Meta to make a companion app for the watch--get people howling about no longer being able to respond?

That's possible, I do know that Messenger will work on the watch, I have had Messenger installed but it quit working a while back, I am not sure how Samsung could do it without an update to the watch
