I ordered the Watch 8 Classic in BLACK, but, with a sales agent through the chat who put my cart together.

He messed up. Put the WHITE watch instead in my cart and now Samsung wants to charge me a 5% restocking fee!!!

So their screw-up is costing me money.

I'm done with Samsung. I'll go to Best Buy, walk in and buy my Pixel products moving forward. Seriously. The LAST straw.

The loss of the S-pen Gesture functionality still leaves a bad taste in my mouth anyways on my S25 Ultra.

But Beware of this Scam!!

Would appreciate you hitting the like button - maybe it'll get in front of someone who can do something about it. I appreciate it!! Thank you.

Edit: I required CSR help with my order as my Military Discount and the $50.00 Pre-Order Credit wasn't applying to the cart I created. Moreover, I think the restocking fee for their mistake is the scam - so I'm just warning everyone to double & triple check your cart as even unopened boxes are being charged a restocking fee!!

Genuinely why would you not just put the watch in the cart yourself. It's maybe 4 clicks.

As I just mentioned (and you likely haven't seen as I just posted) but my military discount and pre-order $50 wasn't loading into my cart.

Not a scam IMHO. A lot of companies charge a cancelation or restocking fee. You should always ask about a stores cancelation and return policies before buying.

I see the growing trend in charging to return items and I truly think the more we accept this - the greater the potential for systematic abuse.

There's a cost of doing business in certain ways, the growth in online sales has driven purchasing things sight unseen. Brick and mortar stores offered customers an opportunity to see the products before purchasing. I think they have a stronger argument for restocking but what I'm dealing with is the mistake of a Samsung customer service sales representative and inputting and selling me the wrong thing, and now they're asking me to pay a 5% at retail restocking fee, not the cost of the item I purchased at 5%.

This is their mistake and they refuse to own it.

It's like all these credit card convenience fees, it really is only a convenience for the business to accept credit cards they have the greater potential for more sales because people may not have the money on hand and resort to credit cards. Yet the only convenience is that the owner of any business doesn't have to go to the bank and make check and cash deposits, they simply run a batch report and their money is there the next day wired to them. So... Why do we pay it? Because we allow it.

But I'm diverging from my original post, I simply want Samsung to do what is right. And they don't tell you about this restocking fee at any point I suppose we're just supposed to know through osmosis.... Or there's some fine print somewhere.

It should be a large pop-up. Yet, this is a Samsung issue 100% that I'm now required to pay a 5% restocking fee. Seems this isn't legit. They could intentionally send the wrong items to everyone over and over again and charge them the 5% to restock the incorrect item and then charge them again for the correct item...

I'm sorry that you feel that you were wronged. But their return policy is very clear.

The argument here is that the restocking fee should not apply if it's a fulfillment mistake or a mistake made by the CS rep who took the order.  If it was a user mistake of putting the wrong item in the cart and not reviewing the order before completing the purchase, that's a different song.

I know a good number of retailers keep the restocking fee high in order to discourage returns for "I don't like it".  It also factors  in that they now have to inspect and repackage the item and sell it as "refurbished" or "open box" at a discount, even if it's never been used.

I understand that, but the return policy clearly states that only items that are received "damaged, defective, or otherwise non-functioning" can be returned within fifteen days after receipt. Even then, Samsung reserves the right have the item repaired under warrenty.

And, I and the OP are saying that those terms should not apply when the error was on Samsung's part. Period.

I understand that as well, but those are the terms that the buyer agrees to when purchasing directly from Samsung, though they, you, and I may not like it.

The OP is right, IMHO, that it would have been better to purchase the item from Best Buy as they have better return policy and you can handle a display of the merchandise before you buy.
