Anyone else having trouble using GBoard on their Watch7?

I've always used the watch version of GBoard on my previous watches (Watch 2 and 4). Now I have the Watch 7 and downloaded GBoard and it is installed, but the watch will not let me choose it as the default.  I am happy they improved the Samsung keyboard for the watch, but I still don't like it and don't want to use it.  I do not know whether this is a Google problem or a watch problem, so I put in an error report with Samsung, and now I'm off to report to Google.

I am glad it's not just me. I saw some reviews that something happened with the last update which, I guess coincided with my watch acquisition. I put in error reports with both Samsung and Google.

It gets put to sleep as soon as you install it. Go into battery app and remove it from sleeping apps and you will be able to select it and use it. I am on Galaxy watch Ultra 7.

Yes! It happened when I got the last Gboard update, specifically. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, reset, and everything. It seems to instantly force close Gboard. It won't even bring up the keyboard, voice to text, or emoji screens when I press the appropriate buttons. It's completely broken.

Same for me too on my Watch 7! When I click the emoji button in Google Messages it just pops up with a stretched blue box, and the keyboard won't open either.

I posted four or five times in this thread so hopefully everybody will be able to see it. Just go into sleeping apps and remove it after you install it and then you will be able to use it.

I can't use correctly even after taking them out of "sleep mode". The problem is that I can't go into Gboard settings and the emoji menu is not displaying correctly

My watch let me set Gboard as the default, but the keyboard would just force close itself and never launch. The emoji button would also pop up a blue box. Weird

Have you notified Google app developers of the issue? The more people that do, the more likely to get attention and fixed.
