My Ultra has started adding laps when I swim. All of a sudden I do times rivalling the WR on a 25m pool for breaststroke and I'm definitely not that good of a swimmer. It has always been correct before but for the last few swims it's gone crazy. Today it said 650m for a 500m swim. I have done a factory reset but the issue is still there. I have the latest update, watch ui 8, is the software the reason for this issue? I haven't been swimming since the spring due to shoulder injury, and just started again, that's why I haven't noticed it earlier.

I didn't say you said they didn't care about it. I said you alluded to the fact they don't care ENOUGH about it. Which you reiterated again.

Saying they pit it on the back burner does not make an allusuon to their not *caring* enough about it, only that there are more pressing priorities.

Well, that's conjecture too, and all the conjecture isn't really productive. I shared my first-hand experience with three different models, as well as my interaction with Tech Support. At least people know why they're seeing what they are and what to expect. It's a bug, and it's being worked on.

I swim regularly, and the issue definitely started with Watch ONEUI8. I noticed it immediately after upgrading my Ultra 2024. It was so irritating,

I traded the 2024 in for a 2025, thinking it might be a new software/old hardware compatibility issue. Nope, same results: I am the fastest human being in a swimming pool.

I also got an 8 Classic on another good trade-in deal. Same issue: overcounts my swims by almost a mile.

At first, Samsung insulted me by blaming me for wrong settings. Then I sent them a week's worth of log data and they finally admitted there's a defect. They said they would work on it, but that was FOUR MONTHS ago.

At this point, I seriously doubt they care enough to fix it. They're probably hoping we'll just upgrade to next year's 8 series. Not me. This year is the last that I pay a premium for watches that are beaten in accuracy by $100 competition.

As I said, for me it does not matter - the only metric that counts for me is time and heart rate.  I understand people do take their swims more seriously than me, but my distance will ALWAYS be off if I don't know the length of the pool.

The problem is: the distance is ALWAYS off even when people know the length of the pool. That's why people keep posting about this: because it matters to them.

One other thing you can do, Freja: submit your own feedback report. That way, Tech Support should keep you in the loop as they release a fix.

Yes, certainly. The more people who put in feedback, the more they know how widespread the issue is and it may light a fire under them.  Posting here is just posting to other users, as the developers don't read these forums and if they do, they are not taking inventory of issues so won't act on them.

You can also return to your own feedback on the issue, and if there's an "ask again" button after the response they gave you, you can tell them you are still waiting for a fix.
