I hope to have a completely transparent navigation bar and only leave the icons to take full advantage of the screen for One UI 8.5.

Galaxy S25Minor difference, but Navstar's transparent gesture hint option disables the black/white background while maintaining the hint. Disabling in settings removes it altogether.

Galaxy S25Here's a screenshot of what that looks like in an app like doordash.

Galaxy S25Oy, that quarter inch at the bottom of the screen is negligible real estate; and the navigation bar can be hidden or narrowed with NavStar. Some people can't use gestures because of dexterity issues, and some people just don't like them. However, those that want to use every millimeter of screen real estate, should either use gestures or elect to hide the navigation bar (even with this option, the navigation bar will always show on the home screen).

Galaxy S25You do not have to use gestures if you don't like them. You still have the option to use buttons.
I personally find navigation gestures to be the superior navigation method. They work quite well, restore lost screen real estate, and make far more sense in a card-based UI like Android/One UI. Gestures have become the industry standard for good reason.

Galaxy S25Just do what was suggested then - use NavStar to add the show/hide button on the navigation bar for seamless app usage. Maybe they will get around to fixing it, but it's certainly not going to happen if you don't put in an error report with the developers. User feedback directly to the developers (not here) is the only way to effect change or fixes.
