Text message showing up as 3 separate text messages

I sent a text message to three separate friends (1 is on an android phone, the other 2 are both on Apple phones) and each of the text messages show up separately. Why would that happen? I text a lot of other friends on both Android and Apple and it never shows up like that.

Same issue. Normally it happens with an attachment, ie image.

I did have an attachment, why does it do that?

I discovered that if you initiate the text and then add the attachment, it will go as a group. For me, this issue occurs when I choose an image first and then add recipients.

Check your settings, sounds like you are sending mass texts rather than group texts.

Where would I find that setting? I looked and couldn't find anything that showed "mass" versus "group".

Which app are you using? In any case it's in the MMS settings . In Google messages its messages settings/advanced, group messaging. In Samsung messages, look in messages settings/more settings/multimedia messages. Turn group conversations on to send to as a group message, turn it off to send the same content to different users individually.

I use Google messages and I checked the settings and it is set up to send messages as a group message so still not sure why it did it individually this time unless it was the attachment as @mtf suggested.
