Swiping down on home screen

Is it my imagination, I thought I used to be able to swipe down from the middle of the screen to open up the notifications, now it seems I have to do it from the top otherwise I'm opening up the apps screen, did it change, did I do something or is it my imagination??

Pinch in on your screen, go to settings, turn on, swipe down for notification panel.
