After a long waited switch back to Samsung I've had a horrible experience to be honest. I pre ordered the S25U. I lost my grandfathered plan I had with AT&T thanks to them and now I no longer have HBO Max. I didn't appreciate or approved the plan changes through the website. The S25U was a major let down with the "play it safe" Ultra no major upgrade from last year's phone. So I returned the phone and ordered a S24U now the fact they're not wanting to release the One Ui 7 update I'm very skeptical of the 6 years left of 7 year promised updates. My old iphone 13 pro max is still getting updates without delays. So after all this I'm returning both phones and going back to a more "STABLE" ecosystem.

It's always a bummer when the excitement of a new device doesnā€™t live up to expectations, and it seems like you've really weighed the pros and cons of staying with Samsung or moving on. I'm happy you commented well. It was a bummer. It was, but it's gonna be okay. Because I will find another ecosystem or device. That suits my needs, but I would just wish. That they could get it together. A little bit because I did communicate with both sides of AT&T and Samsung to make sure that it did not happen and it and the fact that they are rolling out update so slow, it's just kind of depressing hi, understand that they have. Various and different devices to update with. But being that these are flagship phones. I don't think they should be taken to backburner.
So enclosing, I think I will either be going. With another Android phone maybe the Google Pixel or the OnePlus but if I did go back to apple I would just keep my iPhone 13 Pro Max because. It's still functions properly.I just wanted to give Samsung another shot.Because I loved my S7.

This is an issue to take up with AT&T.  If you purchase a carrier locked phone, if you put in your AT&T account information, your plan should remain in place. The only reason for it not to would be if the terms of your grandfathered plan were that it would remain in place as long as you owned your current (old) device.  In that case, purchasing a new phone, even if you bought it directly from AT&T, would discontinue the grandfathering and they would put you on a new plan that is the closest match to your old plan.  If AT&T no longer offers that plan, they cannot give it back to you. That is the way grandfathering works. Don't blame Samsung for an AT&T issue, or because you didn't read the fine print or don't know how grandfathering works.

I'm happy you commented because I previously communicated with both sides before making my purchase on two separate occasions with AT&T and Samsung support that my plan would not change if I upgraded phones and it would in fact stay the same. I asked for my terms of agreement on my plan. It stated for a grandfathered plan that unless I authorized the l change it would not be changed. After purchasing the phone and getting it turned on. I called AT&T to ask if they changed my plan for any reason and they said no. They said it would be on Samsung's side. So I called Samsung and they said it shouldn't of changed but something happened on their end and it was changed unaware to them. So I called AT&T back to make sure and they verify it was on Samsung's end. AT&T said they could give me my old plan back but because they don't handle the HBO Max side anymore. I ultimately lost my plan. So I can blame them because it is in fact their fault. SAMSUNG is to blame.

A lesson learned. One should always check on their plans being grandfathered when going to a new device. I am not trying to be dismissive of your let down, but you did say before that it was an S7?

That device is almost 9 years old.

No that was the last time I had a Samsung phone it was the S7 I've had other android phones after that. Then I went back to a iphone 13 pm. I thought all the information I got was correct from both sides. Best advice I can give is buy the phone unlocked or go into your carrier store and make sure it's done correctly instead of through different sites.

Just FYI, AT&T never takes responsibility for anything, even if it's their fault.  If AT&T no longer has an agreement with HBO, then they cannot give you the feature back.  They can give you your plan/pricing back - but they are not going to pay for HBO absent a new agreement.  If, however, they are still offering a plan with HBO included, even if at a higher plan price, IMO they should just reinstate it at your grandfathered price.  It is also possible that the CS reps who you spoke to would tell you anything so that you don't switch carriers.  It is also entirely possible that Samsung's system actually entered the number as a new customer, thus negating the agreement.  Even if they then corrected their error, the damage was done and your plan was gone. If there were any carrier incentives involved in the new purchase, they may have had to change plans to take advantage of those promos, since only certain plans are eligible for certain promos.  Kind of like when I got my new watch from T-Mobile free - my accessory plan price has gone up for the next two years, because that is the lowest price plan available for a new line of service that is eligible for the free watch promotion. Had I just *paid* for a new watch and transferred my number over, my plan price would have remained the same.  You might consider investigating other carriers to see if you can get a lower priced (or same price plan) that includes a streamer. T-Mobile, for instance has a plan that includes Netflix and Hulu (and a whole lot of nice perks), which may or may not cost more than you are paying now.  I'm not sure HBO has a contract with any carrier anymore, unless they are exclusive to AT&T.

The poster left out all pertinent information. Where was the device pre-ordered. Did they use a carrier deal? Was that carrier deal contingent on a specific type of plan they had to switch to?

Pre-order was through Samsung's website for S25U with free Gb upgrade to 512gb with $20 Samsung earbud pro 3's. No trade in because i wanted to keep my old phone because it was damaged. It asked which carrier I selected AT&T. It didn't say anything about which plan i had or that it would change anything. I verified with AT&T and Samsung before purchasing twice on two different days if my plan was going to change they both said nothing will change with plan. Now I'm not sure where translation was mixed up but something happened. Only carrier specific information and details was given to me was being able to not select a Samsung website exclusive color.
