I’ve been a long-time user and advocate of Samsung’s ecosystem, and one feature I rely on heavily is the voice-to-text functionality within the Samsung Keyboard. However, after a recent update (or for some unknown reason), I’ve noticed a significant drop in accuracy on my Galaxy S25 Ultra.

The Issues I’m Facing:

1. Frequent Incorrect Word Recognition – Words that were once accurately transcribed are now consistently wrong.

2. Auto-Correction Gone Wrong – I’ve observed that sometimes the correct word initially appears, only for it to be automatically changed to the wrong one. This makes the experience frustrating and forces me to manually fix errors, defeating the purpose of voice input.

3. A Noticeable Performance Decline – Compared to previous versions, voice recognition seems slower and less intelligent in adapting to context.

Why This Matters:

Many users rely on voice-to-text for efficiency, accessibility, and hands-free usage. A degradation in this feature severely impacts productivity, especially for those who use their phone for work, messaging, and multitasking.

Call to Action:

I urge Samsung engineers and the development team to investigate and prioritize a fix for this issue. If others are experiencing the same problem, please comment, share, or report this to help get Samsung’s attention!

Samsung, please address this ASAP—this feature is essential to many of your users.

I find nothing wrong with the microphones on these phones. Also, we just established that TTS works better with Google voice, which indicates it has nothing to do with the mics.

They should be very ashamed. Speech to text on Samsung s25 ultra blows! That's with the Samsung speech to text TTS or Google TTS. They both suck **bleep** because of the inferior microphones.

Did it ever occur to you that you might mumble?  Or that you speak too close or too far from the mic?  *Your* particular mic might be bad, but I find no fault in the mic on my phone, and I have absolutely no issues with TTS, except when I was using the Samsung voice engine.  Samsung's speech recognition blows.

I don't mumble. I have to be within 6 inches of the mic in order for our to pick up what I'm saying. If I have the heater on in the car, that's enough for the mic to not pick up. Windows down in the car, doesn't work. Somebody else talking when I'm trying to voice into the mic, again it doesn't work there either. I get that conditions have to be somewhat okay for the mic to work, but immaculate conditions for the mic to work?? No frickin way. That's bad technology. And it jumbled up what I'm saying constantly. It mixes words all the time! I just recently reset - cleared cache and data just out of aggravation of Gboard/Samsung mic sucking so hard. It is not good. I do not like it.

Heater or AC, more specifically the fan noise, is white noise, and as such effectively counteracts the mic.  You would not get that effect if you used an ear bud, as they have condenser mics that buffer out wind/fan noise.

Do you have suggestions of earbuds with condenser mics that work well? Thank you.

Well, I don't usually use ear gear in my car, as it's connected to Bluetooth for phone calls, so background noise is not an issue. If your car does not have a BT connection and you are using the phone's speaker, you are best to use at least one earbud (I think 2 is illegal in most states), especially if you are placing the phone directly up against a vent.  I use Toshiba earbuds and I've used them out in the open with a breeze blowing and no one complained about noise.  I've also used them in a casino and voice recorded a note and did not hear a lot of background noise on the recording.  You could also  just use a phone mount that does not attach to/near the vents.
