Galaxy S25@Mics "I couldn't signed up for Care+ because Im not the original purchaser who got this on Samsung.", says a great deal. So the device was only registered by you within the device, not using the official web portal? I see a few people rightfully seeing a 10 month period to lock a device as odd, but if the OG purchaser registered the device on the web portal (or even when bought it from Samsung, they auto-register said devices to the purchaser and they still have the receipt) and sold it unopened, the device is still going to show as their registered device. I honestly do not think it is a trade in balance issue, not after 10 months (I could be wrong as system may take a long time).
Two parts of the chat exchange between the OG purchaser and you, you mentioned that when you contacted Samsung and a pin was mentioned by them, the OG purchaser "Geeksrecycle" stated to try using to two pins they provided to no avail on your end. Then the very next exchange Geeksrecycle stated, "Just weird, why would I put a PIN on a brand new unit that hasn't been open or activated. Just Odd. I believe the pin was made by the Samsung to lock and disable the phone. When things are clear up between you and the Samsung, they should be able to provide the pin to you, thats what I search about."
He provided possible pins that do not work, then says pointing to their own innocent reasoning as to why they would set one up on a device still in its sealed unopened original box ๐ค. Then leaves it as if you and Samsung will clear this up that they should provide you with the pin, is super sus af.
Also, Geeksrecycle could have falsified a claim on that device as stolen even ten months later if they had bought the insurance plan at purchase (or within the set time allowance) that covers theft and loss. This is a known scam, then claim it stolen. They get a new device and possibly sell that one too. Note; when a buyer purchases a smartphone, the IMEI and serial numbers are automatically tied to the buyer at the point of sale. This is why (in my experiences) why one cannot cancel an order until after it is delivered, or Samsung's own set timeframe for delivery on delayed orders.
Text Geeksrecycle this:
"You have never powered on the phone by your own words, and it is not registered to your Samsung account (as one must use their account to buy the phone) on the phone itself. But Samsung connects the IMEI and serial number to the original purchaser at the point of sale, and thatโs what matters for warranty, Care+, etc and reporting a device lost or stolen.
Since you bought this S25 Ultra from Samsung in the US, you have the original receipt and IMEI/serial, and only you can report that IMEI as lost or stolen to Samsung or your carrier and get a replacement. So right now, my phone is locked with message example in a screenshot I provided, and the IMEI is blacklisted. So please,
Confirm in writing that you did not report this device lost or stolen to Samsung, your carrier, or any insurer.
Confirm that you did not file a claim under Samsung Care+ or carrier insurance for this IMEI.
Provide a copy of the original receipt so I can verify the purchase and IMEI.
See if they do not (want to) comply then text back,
"Since you refuse or cannot provide this, I have no choice but to treat this as fraud and pursue a refund through small claims court and report it to the police as theft of services.โ
