Just remember with a carrier locked phone you are going to be inundated with downloads from your carrier with the updates from samsung!

T-Mobile doesn't generally send unwanted apps.  I haven't yet known anyone with T-Mobile locked phones getting "value added" apps.

Actually in the end under that Metro plan for the S25 FE, the savings is a decent amount over the current price for an S25 FE 128g model from Samsung with using what I pay Metro ($25/month). That Metro deal device costs $100 up front ($200 if getting a new number), then $65 for the first month of service and then $60/month if auto-pay is enabled. So the overall cost for the year is $825 ($925 with new number).  So there is no actual $550 savings (as marketed on Metro's site) rather overall it would be the $825 (the buyer has to use Metro for one year at the $60 monthly rate).

If going by an unlocked device @128g from Samsung, getting the $25/month plan it would be $125 more expensive. So overall there is a decent saving there but it is tied to Metro for the first year. While Metro is not implementing an actual contract for that year, the device is locked to Metro for 12 months (that is in the agreement). One can cancel that plan and still own the phone, but they will not be able to subscribe to another carrier, only Metro. It auto-unlocks after the first year.

We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

• The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
• The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.

I don't recall @godoftech requesting a cost analysis, so why go through all that? He said he did a lot of research, so I assume he knows the terms of his agreement and is OK with his phone being locked for a year  - most people are.  Some people never  unlock their phones, because there is no need to if they don't intend to switch. People don't choose a carrier they are unlikely to stay with, and I'm sure he didn't switch carriers for the deal. People just don't continually carrier hop - they don't change carriers unless there is a reason to.

The only trouble with ordering it from your carrier is that now, neither one of them will want to honor the warranty so if you have any problems, it's on you to figure it out. Coming from experience here with my s24
