Galaxy S25
You bring up a great point — Samsung’s hardware, especially on devices like the S25 Ultra, is more than capable of pushing 120 FPS and delivering top-tier gaming visuals. The limitation often comes down to how the Game Optimization Service (GOS) is managing performance behind the scenes, and how individual games are configured to interact with Android's dynamic refresh rates.
What would help the most is if Samsung gave users more control — for example, a dedicated Performance Mode for gaming that overrides default throttling, gives you a choice to prioritize FPS over battery, and unlocks frame rate caps where hardware allows.
Even on a phone with a 120Hz display, some games are locked at 60 FPS or less, either because of system-level management or the game’s own engine settings. A user-controlled toggle that forces compatible games to unlock higher FPS modes would go a long way — and help Samsung stand out in mobile gaming, not fall behind.
App-specific color calibration and thermal management controls would also be great additions, especially for competitive or high-fidelity games.
Appreciate you starting this conversation — it’s definitely something worth pushing for. Hopefully, with enough feedback, Samsung can give gamers more direct control in One UI going forward.
