This week I transfered over all my stuff from my old S9 to the new S25, so a lot of new technology and terms and acronyms I'm still trying to get used to in the modern age here.

I just transfered my SIM card from the S9 to the S25 and did a lot of setting changes for the messages (had to Google a number of them to even know what the settings meant).

Now the issue is the colors for my response chat bubble.  It seems at first, there is very limited colors and they all seem to look bad (S9 had a teal one that was much clearer to read), but it seems I can't just change the colors for all chat bubbles across the board from all my older messages or group text.

When I look into a text, I see the 3 dots and some allow me to choose the color (limited crappy ones) and it changes.  Others, it gives the option, but doesn't change my response bubble color, and then group chats, don't even have the option at all.  So I am getting really confused.

I just have a hard time reading this baby blue color that is default on all my older texts.  Now I do notice clicking on those unchangable ones, they state MMS or SMS.  Does that mean I can't change those ones?

I take it some state SMS or MMS when I type and others say RCS.  So I think that has something to do with it that I have researched.

Anyways, just curious if I can change the SMS or MMS ones so I can see them better as I'll be still messaging them all.

Thank...

change the color of a chat bubble in Google Messages, you can do the following:

Open Google Messages

Select the chat you want to change

Tap More

Tap Change colors

Select a color from the options

Tap Confirm to select the theme

You can also change the color of text bubbles for individual contacts or group chats. The color change should apply to the recipient as well.

I read that it depends on what technology the contact has on the other end of the chat. Not everyone has the RCS, etc.

Yeah I think that's the case.  I haven't found any other information and nothing on the phone that will let me do that.  Kind of a silly thing not to have that ability on our end as these default colors are horrible for some people.  I wish they'd bring back pallate options for phones for other things besides this, as it seems they only want to give you the ability for a few obscuer crappy color schemes for things now rather than letting the user decide how they want things to look...
