I think I read that next year out of the box, the default will be swipe gestures instead of buttons. That is not going to go over well.

You said it yourself, there is no real reason to switch if it works.  It's not that gestures are complex.  There is no reason to switch.  I'm not giving up my car in favor of a new one, either - because there is no reason to switch.
