Ok, but clicking on the icon is showing real time. Just opening an app to find it is tracking the location is not intuitive. Now if the app shows somehow without having to open it, like having numbrr/icon next to it, is one thing. But discovering location being tracked by opening the app leaves it to chance. Discovery is not had until the app opened.

Clicking on green icon now hows a pop up that the location is being tracked as in this example of a pop up from tapping the icon . Having said that, I find the green icon bit annoying because of the color clash and size.

Location accuracy is the problem. It's Google play Services, and the phone app, and a few others updating your location every 60 seconds literally like clock work. Start by turning off location accuracy, and take away the permissions for location accuracy from all possible apps. I can't belive Sammy hasn't even came out and said anything about this yet, because even during the betas this was mentioned heavily in the forums, This needs to be fixed, I have 3 s24U in our family and all 3 have the same exact issue. It's is not an issue on a device by device case type of thing. It is a serious issue with the OS. Also for the Google play services, you might need to do the uninstall and reinstall of that app to get it to stop doing the 60 second updates. It has helped my device so very much, it was literally unusable for a few days. It was doing so much location updating that the phone was getting hot just by watching YouTube. Now I can get about 8 to10 hours of SOT daily after the fixes I mentioned. Good luck. I hope it helps a bit. ๐Ÿคž๐ŸปโœŒ๐Ÿป

Oh! Is that what's causing the heating? My phone is burning up hot when I use YouTube or play any games.

Yap, it is also an issue with you tube in particular. It sometimes just starts draining the battery like crazy and it heats up and then most of the time its ok. I can't wait until I can leave Samsung behind, this is absolutely so **bleep** sad that in 2025 we still can get a phone that just works throughout the day without major overheating and battery, and location issues. This is so so bad.

What will you try next? I have two weeks left in the return period for this s25 plus. I'm not sure what to do. I've used samsung for over a decade.

At this point for me personally, I have been an android user for 15 years plus, when the Note 7 battery thing happened I went to Apple for 2 years and came back to Sammy after that. So now I think there is only 1 solid option here in the USofA which would be the Pixel series. Keep in mind this is just my opinion, not saying that Pixel is the best of anything, just for me personally it will be the next option to try out. Cheers ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

The US is anticompetitive and that is why we have so few choices. Yes, just about any mid-range or even basic smartphone can be had, but flagships or those with high tech in the US have been either banned or made useless on US networks if they are Chinese. Before the Huawei red scare scam, one could get Honor, Huawei, HTC, Xiaomi etc. The established flagship makers, namely Samsung and Apple are OK cause that leaves them with little competition.

Bet that if the aforementioned products were allowed here to operate, we would not be just getting only newer chipsets and newer UIs every year, we'd be getting better hardware too. Most people buy flagships almost solely for their top notch hardware and camera system. If I did not care about the CPU or the camera, I would have bought like a Oneplus Nord edition or some thing even less than that. Believe it had the Vee V00 200 Pro been a buy here in the US, Samsung would not have been a consideration, regardless of the better chipset.

Three weeks ago?

This has, seemingly, only just started on my ZFold 6 (AT&T).

Why would Google Play Services, the Phone App, and Continuity Service need an update on my precise location every 20 to 30 seconds; it's not like I can be in another city in less than 60 seconds...

Further, if this is a known bug, why has it not been patched when more than 3 weeks has passed?

I'll give your workaround a shot a bit later; for now, I've just turned location off.

Someone else mentioned it stopped when Wi-Fi was disabled -- it briefly stopped but resumed after approx. 3 minutes

This is 100% the issue/solution. Turn off lication services-location accuracy off
