I miss the notification LED feature

I recently jumped from a Samsung S9 to a S25FE. The new phone is much faster... But, I really miss that notification LED.

I even once had a Note II that had that LED. Samsung has used it on models for years... I don't understand why they got rid of it. It's great for when you miss a call, or you are not in the room when a text or email comes in. I think it's a step backwards not to have it.

Anyone else agree? Miss it too?

Samsung removed the dedicated notification LED starting with the flagship Galaxy S10 series in 2019. Unfortunately, I don't believe that Samsung will bring it back.

I don't think any OEM is bringing it back. The notification light has gone the way of the headphone jack.

AOD largely does away with need for a notification LED.

If it is an absolute must have, Clicks Communicator is the only device I am aware of that intends to bring back the notification LED.

I cannot recommend the Communicator as it is a first gen product from a company that has never made a phone before, the phone has not been released, and no one has handled a functional unit thus far, but it's your best bet for legacy features like headphone jack, notification LED, and SD Cards.

I don't like or use AOD. No longer having a notification light was a big adjustment for me, at the time. But I got over it and tap to wake works just fine.

It'll be interesting to see how the Clicks Communicator does. I still don't get the whole concept of it as a secondary device. But if it works for people, great.

AOD is a feature I didn't really understand until I started using it, now it's a must for me personally.

I really think the "secondary device" marketing is just to help users manage expectations when it comes to specs. I imagine most people who really want this thing are going to use it as a main.

I'll admit I'm interested. Sets off all the nostalgia centers in my brain. I just don't think I could daily the thing, but I'd love to be wrong about that.

Use Goodluck. I have notification indicators on my phone. You can add edge lighting, many options are available.

Try installing Samsung's "Good Lock" app and its "Edge Lighting+" plug-in.

It's hard to explain what this does. I'll attach a screenshot and hope it helps. This doesn't stay on like an LED would, but it does do a good job of getting my attention, especially when notification sounds are configured.

If you have this feature turned on, every time your phone gets a notification, icons will float across your screen. (The daisies in the screenshot are the default, but can be customized to something else.) I have mine set to show only when the screen is turned off since it quickly got annoying when the effect popped up while I was using the phone.

I also have it set to use icons of the apps sending the notifications. That way I can immediately tell which app it's coming from and whether it's likely to be urgent. For example, if I get a text message while the screen is off, big Messages icons will float across the screen. 1768934898607.jpg1768934898629.jpg

I've used this feature/module for so long even before it was a module.

Anywho I love it with the implementation to use your own icons. I have Hello Kitty coming from everywhere ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿฅฐ. A feature I'd love to see in a future update would to allow the notifications icons to keep repeating until the notification is checked. Like how many times in a row or for a time period. I think that would be very handy especially for those that don't use AOD. But Samsung has to figure out a way to let people know about Good Lock and all the features it comes with and added expanded features/settings.

Yes, "snooze" it like alarm clock and calendar notifications. I think that's a great idea!
