Hi everyone,

I'm Kamal Hinduja, based in Geneva, Switzerland. I'm excited to join this community!

I recently updated my Samsung phone, and after the update, some settings seem to have changed automatically. Can anyone explain why this happens, and what I can do to fix or prevent it in the future?

Looking forward to your help and guidance.

Thanks in advance!

What settings were changed automatically and how does this affect the performance of your phone?

Several people have reported settings being changed or reset after an update. I have not heard of any way to prevent this from happening.

Because software and hardware differ in different countries, you may be better off with a community in your country.  However, there are certain basics that are always true.  You cannot prevent settings changes with updates.  This happens because during the coding of the new software, settings get moved, combined, eliminated or renamed.  Sometimes the update just turns all settings back to their defaults.  In OneUI 7 there are many things that can be changed back to a more familiar look.  Unfortunately, for your settings, you will have to go through your apps and settings and change them back to what you had.  You can do this on an as noticed basis.  Here is a list of things you can change back and some other helpful hints.
