Hello I just have a general question. So I asked someone if they liked the new Samsung foldable phone. (The newest 1 i forgot the name) and he talked about issues he had with it. Long story short he mentioned that samsung can get copies of my photos I take or save to my phone and copies of websites I visit. I want to know if thats true and how/ where do I turn that off. He said he turned his off. I never asked how.

@DourRuffian The Fold 7 and Flip 7 are the latest. The person is not correct.

Samsung doesn't have access to your photos.

The person who told you this, is fear mongering !

no, unless you upload your photo to website related to Samsung. For instance if you upload your photo to Instagram or TikTok, there's no way Samsung able to have your photo.

The others are correct, Samsung does not do this.  Perhaps your friend was speaking of the automatic backup to Google.  Your photos, your contacts and your apps are automatically backed up to Google, but only into your Google account.  You can turn off the automatic backup completely.  You can see which items get backed up by going to Google backup in your phone settings.  Samsung does not backup your photos, because Google does, but Samsung does have automatic backup, which backs up your apps, settings, messages, contacts.  I do not believe you can turn the Samsung backup off completely, but you can de-select what gets backed up.  Although, why you would want to, I cannot imagine.

Any web browser you use will save your browsing history.  This makes it easier to return to sites you haven't bookmarked but might want to return to.  You can clear that history through that particular browser at any time. You can configure your browser to erase your history on exit.

While I am not a fan of Google Photos, backing up directly to another source like my NAS isn't an option. I tolerate the backup to Google because phones break; chips fail; and I've read too many people moaning the permanent loss of their priceless photos because they DIDN'T back up their data. Whatever your plan, back up fully and frequently!
