The ringer sound on my S24 Ultra stops when I adjust the volume during an incoming call. When a call comes in, and I press the volume up or down button, the ringer sound stops, and the volume slider disappears, but the calling person’s name remains visible. Everything goes silent, which is quite strange. Is there a fix for this, or is this behavior normal?

The issue likely stems from the phone automatically switching to media volume during an incoming call, rather than the ringer volume. To resolve this, you can adjust the phone's volume settings to ensure the volume buttons control the ringer during calls. Specifically, check your settings for "Use volume buttons for media" and make sure it's disabled if you want the buttons to control the ringer volume.

I noticed this yesterday. I think this has changed after the UI 7 update. I have never had this issue before. "Use volume buttons for media," in my case, has always been toggled on without this problem. I turned it off, and still nothing came out. This guy wrote to me, saying, "It's absolutely normal. That's a way to dismiss the active ringtone. It is best to adjust the volume in static mode." I'm clueless!!!

Well, I tried to help. On my S24 I cannot reproduce your issue. Hopefully, someone has a solution.

Change your ringtone volume when the phone isn't ringing.

That behavior "feature" is completely normal. Every time you get a call incoming you either hit the Vol up or down to silence the ringer sound. If you want to change ringer volume just change it when there isn't a call coming in. I hope that makes sense. 👋🏻✌🏻
