Sleep monitor doesn't adjust scores for naps

Being that I'm retired, my rest isn't as consistent as it used to be. I try to sleep mostly through the night, but end up waking after a few hours and going back to sleep later in the day. Sometimes twice. Your sleep monitor doesn't adjust scores for naps. It only adjusts sleep times.

If I set my sleep goal at 8 hours and in two sessions I sleep 7 - 7.5 hours that should be considered in all my sleep statistics. Including my sleep score.

When it comes to sleep issues. I would recommend turning off all wifi and Bluetooth signals. It can disrupt dreaming believe it or not. Also, if you wake up when the sun rises (go outside in the morning sun too) it can greatly help your circadian rhythm which will help improve your sleep. When you create consistency it will make a big difference.

That's not what the OP was asking about.

Thanks, but relaud is correct. I feel that no matter when and how long you sleep the stats should be incorporated.

At the very least, each sleep session should have a score. Whether the app then does the average to get a score, or we have to do the math ourselves, is another issue.  When one cat-sleeps, some cycles may be more efficient/effective than others.  Since the app knows when we are asleep and when we are awake, it should be no problem to adjust the score. Even then, the score may not accurately reflect how we sleep and how we feel.  If it can't adjust for people's natural rhythms, it's an ineffective measure.  The algorithm would probably think we have trouble staying asleep when, in actuality, it is our natural cycle to sleep-wake-do stuff-sleep. It does not mean we are sleep deprived or insomniac.  It does not even give us an option to make notes, to notate if we were ill, got up to void 6 times, or whatever.

This has been a complaint of many people who have interrupted sleep. If one is giving credence to their sleep score, I imagine the scores would be worse if they took into account the broken sleep sessions. The score is apparently based on your first sleep session. This is how the algorithm gauges consistency (bedtime/wake time). It does not take into account individual rhythms, it goes by the average circadian cycle. There are many people whose own natural rhythm is to sleep in 3 or 4 hour blocks, like cats, and the programmers should find a way to adjust for it.

Personally, I don't lend any credence to the score. I only check the cycles, Oxygen, snoring & HR. The score basically means nothing.

I actually like to reference the Samsung health Sleep score, along with all the other relevant measurements that are taken. I also have an adjustable bed that gives me a sleep score and the Samsung Health Sleep score is typically higher, and it seems to be more consistent. I pay attention to the other aspects of the Sleep measurement also, but the Sleep score I think should be measured for interval of sleep.
