Screen brightness is unresponsive

I have an s24u and have adaptive brightness off. When I use the slider padt half brightness up higher nothing happens!

It won't go any higher or I don't see any changes. I haven't ever had this issue before? I don't know why it is happening and it is bothersome. 

Anyone else have this problem? Any fixes to suggest? Thanks

Sounds like you have Extra Dim turned on

Thank you. It seems the phone was overheating and lowered brightness to compensate. I took it out of the case I had and now it is working as normal.

I had a very protective case and was charging the phone. After charge was complete it was still acting up. Restarted the phone and no different.

Took it out of the case and the phone was warm. Guess I need a new case.

Thanks for your suggestions though.
