Looking to see if s24 us version unlocked has gotten the new Android 15 OneUI 7 update? I've been trying to update mine and it will not update and I'm thinking I have a problem. Samsung tech support not helping. Please advise. Any help would be appreciated.

That was my thought exactly. Samsung tech support says their standard line " it's being released in batches it's just not your turn yet" which I frankly think is just a way to get you off the phone. When you try to explain them that the last security patch was October 1st 2024 and that something's not right their answer is you'll just have to wait. The funniest part was when they tried to say it was my carrier and I said okay, what if I didn't have a carrier wouldn't it still update? and their response was, oh yeah. A flagship Samsung phone from last year should not be having these problems.

I tried Smart Switch it did not work. So I did some more research and I found out that if I use samfw tool. Started receiving updates immediately. Problem fixed, without a single bit of help from Samsung. Thanks.

I just want to clarify that there is a difference between a carrier unlocked phone and an unlocked phone purchased directly from samsung. If your model name ends in U1 then it's truly unlocked from samsung. If it's simply ends in U, then that means it was a carrier locked phone it was unlocked via a code, however it still has the carriers footprint. Have you switched carriers recently? If so, your phone is trying to get the update from your previous carrier which it cannot authenticate.

It does end with the character U but it was purchased as a Samsung factory refurbished. If it did have a carrier attached to it at one time I would have no idea who it was. It has been with the same carrier since I purchased it 4 months ago, AT&T. But again AT&T and Samsung both concurred that it should not matter who your carrier is the software should still update even if you don't have a carrier. Thanks.

Okay so we know that it was a carrier locked phone that was unlocked via code. Doesn't matter who the carrier was, you need to get the update forced. I believe that can be done if you take it to a uBreakIfix store, which I believe is an authorized Samsung repair store. They should be able to flash the update on your phone.

So based on that idea, am I going to have to do that monthly for security updates and for any future Android updates as well?

Honestly, I don't know for sure. But, I would tend to believe once you get the software correctly installed, it should update as normal without any intervention from you.
