  • Developer Options is enabled
  • USB Debugging is enabled
  • Developer Options: Default USB Configuration "Transferring Files" option is enabled.
  • From the phone keypad, dialed x#0808# which launches USB settings, "MTP +ADB" is enabled.
  • Windows Driver v1.7.61 (latest) is installed in both Windows 10 and 11.
  • Ubuntu Linux does not recognize the device after plugged in.
  • VMWare does not recognize the device after plugged in.
  • Tried all 2.0 and 3.0 ports on my PC.
  • Tried the Samsung supplied cable and a few other USB-C cables.
  • Windows 10, 11 and Linux all software is updated to latest.
  • S24 Ultra latest One UI and all software / security patches are installed as of 4/26/2024.

Basically, no operating system will recognize my S24 Ultra.  No issues what so ever with my S23 Ultra, I have not shipped the trade-in.  Need the phone for personal use and development at work.  I'm developing and testing mobile app for both Android and IOS.   The Windows 10, 11 and Linux systems that I use at home also have this issue with the S24 Ultra.

I'm not what else I can do to troubleshoot.  I would love to include logs from logcat, but the devices isn't recognized so ADB can't authorize the device.

Does anyone else have this problem?  If so what was your resolution?

Thanks.

Bryan A.

After some troubleshooting today, I resolve my issue.

1. navigate to windows control panel and launch device manager.
2. locate the Samsung Android Device in error.
3. right click on the android device and select update driver.
4. select the option browse for drivers on your computer.
5. select the option "let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer"
6. scroll down the list until you find the Samsung android device.
7. select the Samsung android device.

At this point I was presented with two options.

Google, Inc.
Samsung

8. I selected Samsung and selected the second "SAMSUNG Mobile USB Composite Device" I chose the second one in the list at random. I don't know the differences between the two identical drivers.

At this point I followed the prompts and windows recognized the device.

My S24 Ultra prompted me with the "Allow device" permissions and Windows launched the S24 Ultra as a storage device.

Everything above was written from memory, I apologize if I missed a step or if something is mislabeled.

Hope its helpful.

Thanks.

Hi @antimadder

Please see my closely related post . And, specifically the two potential workarounds I described. I have adapted this information below.

Workaround #1 (wired): Use a USB-C to USB-A rather than the USB-C to USB-C cable included with your device

Workaround #2 (wireless): My preferred methodā€”simple, fast, requires less accessories, and enables fine-grained file management. Prerequisites: This requires that phone and computer are connected to the same WiFi network. No hyperbole intended but learning this method may change your life. This is the wireless FTP method.

1. Ensure your phone and computer are both connected to the same WiFi network.

2. On your phone, install an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) server application on your phone. Easiest: Install WiFi FTP Server from the Android Store (free)ā€”this will be the simplest to use (for advanced users, F-Droid FOSS Android repository has an application called primitive ftpd).

3. On your computer (Linux, macOS, or Windows) install FileZillaā€”a popular free and open-source FTP client: https://filezilla-project.org

4. On your phone, open your FTP application of-choice and start an FTP session.

5. On your computer, open FileZilla. Enter the preset or user-set hostname (i.e. xxx.xxx.x.xxx), username, password, and port (i.e. 2221) associated with the FTP session on your phone.

6. You can now move files seamlessly/bidirectionally/rapidly between mobile phone and computer file systems

Same happened for me, nothing working until i tried every usb port and one worked. It was one of the normal USB ports.

The USB C port and USB C TO USB C cable didn't work although its an apple cable so high grade and both always work with my note 9.

A guess is it works best with a USB 3.0 port as it recomends this in Windows Devices and printers
