Why is my camera so dark in indoor settings. My IPhone 16 plus takes better pictures than my S24 ultra.

Is your camera's night mode on?

You should turn on the night mode of your camera, otherwise the artificial intelligence photo will not be corrected and leave it in its natural state.

So, turn on night mode when I'm taking photos indoors?

Yes, if your camera finds that a space is not bright enough, a moon symbol appears in the lower right corner.

Are you saying it should automatically go into night mode?

It has the appearance that the brightness of the white boxes, the white elements on the mat and the shadow of the arm holding the camera have fooled the meter and auto-focus about what the subject is. I actually think the focal point is on the mat for the Samsung and on the food for the Apple. On the Samsung it would probably do better to touch (perhaps touch and hold) on the phone screen at your preferred subject (or even use the flash given the brightness of the light above your arm, or re-compose/change your position so your arm doesn't cast a shadow).
