Galaxy S24

First, I had this problem with my S21, but it still occurs on the S24.  If it matters, I have the Samsung watch6.

I'm having problems with VERY slow on absent notifications.  Let's start with Ring.  The camera over my garage door should when motion is detected.  It does . . . sometimes.  Often I get no notification.  Sometimes I get a notification, but not the sound I've assigned to Ring cameras.  I've been unable to find the sound in the Notification library or in Ring.  Those notifications work perfectly on my wife's iphone.  To save typing, all notifications I list below work perfectly on the iPhone.

If that were my only problem, I'd blame Ring.  It isn't.

Google Maps.  I should get a notification when she arrives at specific destinations.  On occasion, I do.  Mostly not.

Text messages.  I get notifications for most, not all.

I get notifications with no visual confirmation.  I've tracked it to "Side Button pressed"  But, I don't get the notification when I press any side button.  I do get it often when my phone is off, but powered on,  and lying on my desk.  Even then, I get only a sound, but my phone doesn't brighten and no visual indication.

I have a Liftmaster garage door opener.  If I close my garage door on the way out, it can be 15-17 minutes (I've timed it) before I get the 'door closed' notification.

Those are the ones I remember.  If it were one app, I could blame the app.  With all the above apps (and more) involved, I'm suspecting the phone.  Again, happened with my s21, so I'm guessing sw, not hw.

Advice please.

Yes. The phone has modes and routines you can customize to automate certain actions. Settings/modes and routines/work.
You can set it up to turn on and off automatically and set the patameters for do not disturb which are different than your normal dnd settings. See example. 1736596055699.jpg1736596055720.jpg1736596055742.jpg

What's the purpose of having two different DND settings? It just makes it more confusing! For me anyway! 😂😊

Because in different modes you might want different levels of DND. The default setting for DND is nothing gets through. You can adjust the settings as needed for different scenarios. For instance, if you are sleeping, your sleep mode DND may be set that nothing gets through; in work mode you might want texts from your family, but no calls, in all modes you might want emergeny alerts to come through. You might just want to turn on DND with no mode. Lots of reasons. With modes, it also can all be automated do you don't have to remember to turn it on and off.

I seriously get NO notifications from the people I want to get them from, which is crazy. My adult daughter gets so ticked at me... she tells me I need to go to an IPhone lol. I did once years ago, and I swore I'd never do it again! 😂

Why even have a phone if it is in DND all the time?

I'm not either, mainly on texts. Any idea how to fix this? It happened to me once before and the A, T & T corporate store fixed it less than a minute but didn't show me how they did it! 😕

That's why I'm here asking. I don't want it in DND all the time, but I forget to change it after work. If I can have it set up like you explained above, that's what I want to do, not sure how to do it. I've tried to do it myself several times in the last year and it never works, so I'll just take it into a Verizon store. All I've ever had is Samsung phones except for once and I've never had this problem.

Follow the example in my photos. And, yes, do make sure all the sounds and vibrations are on for the messaging app. Make sure you have notification categories turned on. Settings, notifications, advanced settings, manage notification categories for each app. Then go to the message app settings and make sure sound is on for new messages/incoming messages and make sure you choose a sound.

I spoke with a gal at Samsung and she helped me get it back to how it should be. Go to settings, apps, messages, then notifications, (make sure to 'allow' sounds and vibrations), then make sure that Lock screen, Badge, and Pop ups are all 'allowed'. That fixed it for me..hope that helps you..
