Pull down from the top right of the screen. You'll see a power icon. This will bring up the power menu.1758303412592.jpg

If the phone crashes and I need to force power off, how do I do that since the long press power is remapped?

Press volume down and power simultaneously until the phone reboots.

Do you use the flashlight so often that you need to remap your power button?

You can create a routine to turn on the flashlight by  remapping one of your navigation bar icons.  You have to download Good Lock's Routines+ module.  Then create the below routine.  You would turn off the flash light via the notification card that appears in your notification panel, or you can create a second routine to map another icon to turn it off.  If you use gestures rather than the navigation bar, or don't want to run the routine, you can put the magnifier widget on your home screen.  When you open the magnifier, there's a button to turn on the flashlight - many times people need to use both together.

i'm used to motorola's chop action to turn on flashlight without unlocking. (2phones, 6 years)

i want something just as simple and long press power fits.
programming with routines or jumping through other hoops: less mental energy to unlock and press flashlight button

Guess what?  You have a Samsung phone now and things work differently.  Creating a routine is so you *don't* have to jump through hoops.  I repeat do you use the flashlight often enough to make button reprogramming worthwhile?  If so, then you will have to choose which functions you want for the buttons.

Also, did you know that you can put the flashlight control on one of the bottom corners of your lock screen?  Long press your lock screen to go into edit mode, you will see a circled + on both of the lower corners.  Tapping the circle will bring up a choice of controls you can put there.  The flashlight is one of them. You can also add a camera widget under the clock, since you prefer to do things with your phone locked.

Yup, got to get used to the Samsung ecosystem.

Lock screen flashlight (and camera) icons don't work on my s24fe.

pressing on either icon doesn't do any

thing

I belive you have to press and swipe not tap. I do not remember which direction - up, I think. This is prevent accidental activation. You use the same motion to turn it off if the phone is locked.
