Your messages should all transfer over if you do the upgrade option in Samsung messages

I'm not a fan of Google messages either. More customization in Samsung messages. Well, i will be using Samsung messages for as long as I'm able to do so.

Google messages offer a few features that Samsung messages didn't support, such as e2ee encrypted chat receipts. Screen effects etc Samsung messages still works but RCS Support depends on your carrier, Samsung messages allows for a more customizable experience, Let's hope that Google will improve the features and customizable menus, And most importantly a way to backup your Messages, Currently the Pixel 9 has a feature that backups your Rcs messages

They are in no way shape or form FORCING you to go to Google messages.  There is a Not Now option so you can stay with what you have, but the warning is really stating that RCS is the future of text messaging and are suggesting you go with a partner app that is already installed on your device (seriously people Google Messages was the default messaging app when I unboxed my S22 Ultra, this is 2 years later now and people don't get that this is already there, and had to be disabled day 1 to use Samsung messages)
