Has a lot to do with google and their cross-platform implementation of RCS (rich communication service) in google messages. RCS in Samsung messages was offered through phone carriers with sometimes inconsistent service .

I've never had any issues with RCS Messaging in Samsung Messages and that's the only messaging app I use

Same here. I still use Samsung messages. I personally never had any issues using RCS through my carrier.
