Locked on notifications

Sometimes I'll view my notifications before I open my phone fully. After the update I get locked on the notification screen if I do that. Once I bring down the notifications I can no longer bring them up to open my phone. I have to turn the screen off then turn it back to be able to unlock my phone to get into it.

I use to just bring down my notifs then swipe up and get right into my phone but now i swipe down and it locks it that way 😕 

It is pretty frustrating. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Have you wiped the cache partition?

If not follow these guidelines after an update.

I have also wiped the cash partition I have turned off ram plus everything it will not fix this when I type in my passcode on my lock screen it freezes literally it's terrible the one u I updates for 2 years have literally ruined this phone it was great before they **bleep** it up and they will not help Samsung owners if you report issues and support they literally just tell you you reported it wrong every single time

Hi, yes, I have done this. I literally did it hoping it would fix this and a couple issues i'm having after the update and none of them were fixed with the cache clearing, unfortunately. 😕

I did a little research on your issue . I'm not sure this will work.

Check Secure Lock settings

1. Settings → Lock screen → Secure lock settings (enter PIN).


2. Turn off “Lock instantly with Side Key” (this is on by default now).


3. Make sure “Auto lock when screen turns off” isn’t set to “immediately” (try 5 or 15 seconds).

That didn't work either. It was still sec to 5 seconds, like I had it before and I tried the Side key on and off and none worked either. I guess I'm relieved this isn't a new feature they added, given I hear no other complaints but also boggled and frustrated about it.

Try this, no guarantees.
Adjust lock-screen notifications

1. Settings → Lock screen → Notifications.


2. Switch from “Detailed” to “Icon only” or “Brief” style.


3. Also disable “Hide content” temporarily.



On the S24 this reduces the “shade-overlay” that traps you.

This issue could be an update bug. Let me know.

If that doesn't work try this which I came across.

Update again

Go to Settings → Software update → Download and install. Samsung is pushing a small September/October patch for S24s that changes this behaviour back to normal in some regions.

If these don't work maybe someone else can solve it.

Still, nothing.

It could possible be some apps that could cause this as well. That sounds like something it could be.
