Galaxy S24Because you just got a brand-new update and things are happening behind the scenes putting things in place and, just like a new device, it has to relearn your usage patterns. I also guarantee you are using the phone more checking out the new system, adjusting things to our liking. Location access does not use battery resources on its own, however, the apps that are using it might, depending on whether they are actually running in the background or just momentarily taking a peek at where you are.

Galaxy S24This is causing a bigger battery drain and warms up when I'm not even using it. The only workaround that completely fixes the issue is turning off location in settings, but I should not have to manually turn it off. Never had this issue with One UI 6 before.
This is not right that something like this is happening. Samsung needs to push out an update asap to get this fully resolved.

Galaxy S24I have an S24 on Tmobile. It updated to OneUI 7 on May 1st, and since then has had a similar issue.
"Phone Services" is checking the location about every minute. Does not matter if WiFi is on or off, Location Accuracy off. Cleared updates for Play Services and Play Store. Wiped Cache partition. Still does it.
Was avoiding a factory reset, but might try that next. In the mean time I have just been toggling Location manually.

Galaxy S24S22. AT&T. Stock. After this One UI 7 update, Continuity Service requests location every minute.

Galaxy S241. Backup everything to Google
2. Backup files using Smart Switch (I used a USB-C flash drive), and ensure Samsung Cloud sync is enabled (this will bring back things like call logs, wifi networks, etc)
3. Charge to 100% and Factory reset.
4. Restore everything from Google. It'll take a while for everything, text messages will come in quickly, apps will take a while, pictures from RCS and MMS come in later but it'll all come in. The phone gets quite hot, I placed a desk fan to keep it cool. Don't charge it or it'll get even hotter (that's why you want to charge to 100% beforehand)
5. Use Smart Switch to restore only files (downloads, videos, audio, etc). Do NOT restore apps, messages, or settings from Smart Switch.
6. Use Samsung Cloud to get anything else you want restored, but again don't restore apps, messages, or settings.
UPDATE: One day in, the icon is back to being there all the time BUT it's not actually pinging the location constantly anymore. The last use by any app was 3 hours ago
So there are two bugs here:
1. Upgrading to One UI 7 seems to make Google Play Services ping location every minute. Fresh install fixes this.
2. The location icon stays on all the time, even if the location isn't being used.
Gosh, what a mess.

Galaxy S24It's unbelievable that Samsung is just fine having this out there. I'm astonished.

Galaxy S24As a reminder, you will have to reimport your Google maps Timeline, set up Google one backups, setup smartwatch again, etc after doing this. Good luck to all
