My s20 plus is still a great phone, however they are planning to stop security updates next year. So I went ahead and took advantage of the Black Friday sale and got an S24 plus. The specs overall are way better but the camera says 50MP for the S24 plus as opposed to the 64MP for the S20 plus. Is there something I'm not understanding? Either way both cameras are great, just seemed odd to me.
Samsung has started placing lower spec'd selfie cameras on the higher end phones with great back cameras. Meanwhile, the lower end cameras have better front/selfie cameras and not so great back cameras. I have a S23 Ultra and my daughter's A54 has a much better front/selfie camera than my phone. It seems to me the flagship should have the best of everything.
If you didn't trade in your old phone, it's still usable as a camera/internet device/emergency spare phone, so you can still take advantage of the better camera when you need to.
