I can't take it anymore. I don't know how to close an app. On my Samsung phone, S24 ultra, it's simply impossible to close audible or other apps that play audio. I open it and I play something and then I close it. Then I have to go to another place to make sure it's not playing in background. Then, the next day, without ever opening audible again, I put on my headphones and boom, there's audible playing again. I will never buy another Samsung phone because they continually cause the phone to take actions without my approval for purposes which are completely mysterious to me.

So... is there any way to close an app on a Samsung phone? That is my question. How do I close an app? How do I close it so that it stays closed? Do I need to lock it? Do I need written permission from Samsung? Could someone please tell me how to close an app?!! You know so that it closes!!? So that it's no longer working?!! So that it doesn't start working on its own?!!!!

Who thought that this would be a useful thing to have? Probably the same people that added genAI to the screen capture and ruined it.

I'm done with this company. I want a phone that does what I tell it to do and nothing more. The hardware is great, the OS is a nightmare. I switched from Apple to get away from this kind of heavy-handed 'we know best' nonsense. My first Samsung phone will be my last.

Don't blame Samsung.

It's typical of Android in general and the way the apps work.

This behavior happens like this with any Android phone.

Go to Audible's settings and turn off autoplay. Most music apps do not have an off switch, so I downloaded one that does. Most use the pause button to stop the music.  If you hit pause, the player does not run in the background, as there is no music playing. Most also have autoplay when headphones are connected on by default. All have settings where this can be disabled.

This is not a Samsung thing, it's an app thing. You can also just open the recent apps screen and close the app by swiping up or hitting the close all icon.

audible should be one of these options if you have not paused before closing the app. background play is default so you dont have to waste battery on a screen youre not looking at1758491307749.jpg
