No you don't need to perform a factory reset after you update to the new One UI but something I always do after a major update is to wipe the cache partition to remove all of the old junk data

Its not being released to carriers until the 7th-10th and then they will release it

It all depends on how long it takes Spectrum to modify and test the update before they release it for the S24's

Off on another tack, do you happen to know if, whenever the update finally gets to me, will it keep most of my settings, or am I going to have to go through the 1000s of settings and do it all again?  I understand setting locations may have changed and that some settings may just be gone, but I really like my phone the way it is. (And did they finally leave the notification categories on by default?)

no man it's just like any other security monthly update it will update you all settings files everything's stay the same, the only thing that might change is if certain programs and apps aren't compatible yet with One UI 7.... those will all still be there but they may crash or stuff like that until they get updated but usually anything like that that occurs developers are rather quick on getting the fix out there
