When I bought my phone in July, got updated to ui 7.

Today (3 months) got updated to ui 8.

How often does the UI get updated?

UI7 > 8 has been a bit of an unusual update cycle. UI8 was released a bit ahead of the typical schedule. 8.5 is the next anticipated update with various visual and practical improvements.
