How can I turn off Full screen mode in some apps

For some reason now when I play some games or some apps the navigation bar is hidden. Making back out difficult. How do I go back to the original setting. 

I thought it was the app, but it's not, it's the phone.

A lot of people where?  Not on this forum.  Yours is the first post on this issue. There are many people who hate the navigation bar so much, they switched to gestures just so they don't have to ever see it.  I don't know why the navigation bar did not disappear for you previously, but it has always done so in full screen apps on any device I have ever used.  As I said, it's a function of the particular app's programming.  If an app was programmed to run in full screen mode only, you will not be able to change that and your navigation bar will be hidden, but still usable.  So, you have to get used to  a different way of accessing the navigation bar.  Yes, this is an Android feature, so complain to Google.  If you have to use the navigation bar buttons to play the game, then the developer is a lazy programmer.  They should have included either navigation controls for the game or programed the app to allow the navigation bar to remain.  Contact the app developer.  You can try opening the app, and then go to the task changer and select "open in popup view, which should work, but some games are made for you to experience the entire full screen experience.  Pop up view will only show you half the game and you will have to scroll side to side or up and down.  I ask you, which is more inconvenient?  If you want to send feedback on your dissatisfaction, put in a feedback report. https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Tips-Tricks/How-to-Send-Feedback/ba-p/3001692

You can download Good Lock's NavStar module and turn it on and then turn on the "show/hide button".  This will place a dot on the navigation bar to keep the navigation bar showing.  You would have to tap that prior to playing your game, or you can tap the button to keep it showing at all times. Honestly, how much effort does it take to swipe up to show the navigation bar?

I am continually amazed at just how lazy technology has made people.

Everyone was so worried about computers and robots killing their jobs, now they voluntarily give up autonomy and want their phones to do everything for them except spoon feed them (they'd probably want them to do that too, if it was possible).

Even with Navstar the bar STILL hides itself during gameplay. That's **bleep**

Samsung keeps removing features for customization and dumbing down their phones. And there are enough fanboys out there saying Samsung can't do wrong and if you don't like having features REMOVED, then it's your problem.
I think I will have to give up on Samsung and just get a Pixel phone next time. I do like the Samsung camera better and enjoy having some extra features with my Samsung watch, but removing features which I want after I bought the phone WITH THOSE FEATURES, is just not working for me.

I agree. They are trying to become iPhone so bad. And fan boys don't see. They try and ignore the fact that some of these features are the reason we liked Samsung in the first place. If I wanted an iPhone, I would just get 1, and not settle for this knockoffs

If you think Samsung is trying to emulate Apple, you are severely limited in your imagination.  If you feel that Samsung is failing you in some way, feel free to try something else and see how that goes for you. If you don't enjoy your perceived lack of features on your Galaxy device, just wait until you see want you don't have on others.  And, if you move to another brand, and it is everything you wanted, well good for you - you made the right move for you.

You do realize that some of the features that may have been removed were because of Google mandates and the ANDROID update?  Good Lock is Samsung's official suite of customization modules.  Together with modes and routines, you can get most of your missing features/actions back.

You use the word "fanboys" as if it was a pejorative.  Just because someone can offer you an explanation/workaround/fix and does not agree with your point of view that everything should forever remain the same does not make them what you call a "fanboy" and, even if it did, there is nothing inherently wrong with that.
