The new pill icon SUCKS. Can barely read the percentage left. Change it back! Or give us the option.

Just another case to change something for the sake of change, without any thought or polling to see if it is liked. I bet no one thinks it's better than precious bar with percentage next to it.

Need to have it in stupid pill form for some reason cause it's "cool"? Fine. But don't put the number inside of it that is barely visible in the greyed out area.

I finally added a widget and got rid of the icon with QuickStar (Good Lock module). Couldn't stand looking at it anymore.

I've been using an app called PowerLine since before the update. Instead of taking up space with another widget, it puts a line along one edge of the screen (I chose to put it near the top, but you can put it along a side if you want).

The battery line is color coded and customizable. I just look to see what color the battery line is and connect the charger if the line has gotten short and red.

Thanks for this! I just installed it. A vast improvement over the unsightly pill!

I will start by saying I am a Reddit user and I am on the Samsung subreddit. I can't take credit for all of this, the credit goes to a Reddit user by the name of u/TheDudeTodd for pointing out these the Battery app, I knew about Good Lock and messed around with it but didn't know I could turn off the battery indicator so I also give him credit for pointing that out, I just had to figure out how. The rest on how to use the apps I can take credit for.

You can remove the battery icon altogether if you don't like it. To do so download Good Lock app from the Samsung store, from within the app download the Quickstar plugin, once download it will be at the top of the list, open it and turn it on. Now, tap on Visibility of Indicator Icons, scroll down to Battery icon and turn it off. At this point you can leave it but you will have no way of knowing what the percentage without going into to settings.

Now, here is the good part. You can add an indicator back in but choice is limited with the following app and where you can put on the status bar. I will point out that other notification will cover these up if not placed correctly. Open the Google Play store and search for Battery Bar - Power Lines by Yogesha Dama. Once downloaded open the app, one thing to note is the app does have ads but I only had one pop up only when opening the app. This app will give you a choice between a battery bar, battery text or battery ring. Select one(or all if you wish) and turn it on.

Here is the battery bar in blue at the very top, I had to make it thicker or it was barely visible on the screen shot. You can change the thickness, transparency and even the color of the bar. If there is a color that you don't like in the fixed color icons click custom on the bottom of the color page and you can select any color in the spectrum. The blue on the bar is a custom color.

If you don't like the bar at the top you can use text. Now, it may not be in the right position. When I first turned this on it was part way under the camera cutout, you will need to use the test position for both X and Y. You can position to the right of the signal strength bar, it will fit with a text size of 8(9 on my S24 some of the percentage sign is cutoff and I am hugging the signal bar tight), for X position start with 1000 and Y position around 27  which is about lined up vertical with the rest of the text The screen shot below it is to the right side of the camera cutout as I also had ring turned on. You can also make the text larger or smaller, no color customizing. Drawback with white is if you have a light colored wallpaper it may be hard to read.

The last option is a ring. I centered it around my camera cutout but again this one can be moved by using X and Y for ring position, it can be made smaller and larger to fit either around the camera cutout. You can change the thickness and the color.

I don't know if there are other apps available from the Play Store that offers this but I am going to try this for a while and maybe check for others another day. I kind of like the ring combined with the text next to it. I might even just leave the percentage squeezed between the sign bar and the screens edge but it looks off since the percentage is half cut off on my screen but it still looks better than the pill.

Here is a screen shot of battery text next to the signal bar. Turns out my case is what is covering part of the percentage. I edited my post above in the Battery text section, you can't customize the color unless you buy the premium. What I added to that was on a light colored background it is hard to read, especially on my wallpaper.

Also, another drawback is you need to allow it to run in the background. It will show up as 1 active app when you pull up from the bottom for current open apps. If you close it then it will no longer display. It will also display on top of every open app since it needs the "always on top" setting turned on or again, it won't display.

I ditched the above layout. I kept getting annoyed by a notification that appeared to be a system notification and not from the app since I had all notifications turned off. The other thing not so annoying thing is the app does need to run in the background. It will show active if you pull up from the bottom to currently running app. If you stop it then everything disappears. I have another workaround that uses the Samsung battery widget. Not sure if anyone is interested because it involves using Good Lock and changing the home screen to a 6X6 layout in order to get the widget to display just a battery icon and not both a battery icon and a watch battery level indicator.

I downloaded it, not sure how you got it to work as I couldn't get past the next page after tapping the start setup button. There are no buttons on the next page to accept accessibility settings so I couldn't even try the app. My new layout works for me. Even though I don't have have a battery icon on the notification panel now, but when using an app it still only takes a swipe up to go to home page to see it versus a pull down from the top.

Good Lock might be interfering with this app but the only thing that it should be affecting is the battery icon that I turned off but I turned that back on. I am not willing to take the time to go through and return my layout back the way it was and remove Good Lock when I really don't like that battery icon to begin with and enlarging it really isn't going to help the way it looks.

Thanks for the tip though.

The change to the battery icon is my biggest complaint for this update. The numbers are too small to read and the contrast is poor.

For people with poor vision, they have to get reading glasses to check the battery level. An actual percentage, numbers and percent are much easier to read.

At least provide an option to change the icon.

Thanks.
