Edit: The same experience, replete with Samsung simps bashing anyone that dare suggest silencing a phone without an additional apps, has been recounted numerous times in forums around the web. Samsung simps, stay away from this post.

Original: Despite hundreds on thousands of requests, Samsung still has not returned functionality to the volume buttons, where they erroneously removed the ability to silence the phone by pressing volume down, inadvertently forcing users to perform many additional steps to perform this simple task.

The solution is not a 'workaround'. The solution is returning functionality to the volume buttons, as it had previously existed in all similar devices.

Please advise the steps your company is taking to address this issue, and advise a timeline when we can expect functionality to be returned.

Muted as in silent, or muted as on vibrate?

Well, now we're all waiting for you to explain how you have managed this feat.

Just make a routine to add that functionality back to the button.  You only have to create the routine once, so it's not "jumping through hoops" or doing multiple actions.  Once you make a routine, it stays active until you disable it.  You won't even remember that the action was ever removed from the button.

How did you verify that "hundreds of thousands of requests" were made?  A request on a forum, this or any other, is not an official request.  Only feedback reports sent directly to the development team would count as a request, and I doubt you would have access to that number.

Running an entire app because a button was made less functional is considered a workaround, and workarounds are not solutions.

I said hundreds on thousands, not hundreds of thousands.

Now you're arguing semantics, and that's not what I'm here to do.

It's not running an entire app. It's creating an action to return a function. You don't want to do it, that's your choice. Workarounds are fixes, especially, since the decision to remove it from the button was a programming choice by Samsung, and likely not coming back. If you want the function, you do what is necessary, or suffer and complain without it. They likely took it away because it's a redundant feature woth many ways to obtain the same result. They left it as a customization option. You object? Put in feedback

Regardless of whether you said on or of, you have no data and no proof and no sources to cite.

The problem is not being able to silence my phone, the problem is not being able to silence my phone using the UI without using additional apps. Modes and Routines is an app, one that previously had to be installed separately but is now installed by default, the latter circumstance most likely being your source of confusion.

Why do you insist I need to prove to you that multiple people are complaining to Samsung? Samsung gets the complaints. They know it to be true. It doesn't matter whether you believe it to be true, since you have no power to change it.

You don't need an additional app. Modes and routines is baked right into the operating system. For the record, I am not confused, modes and routines has been part of the operating system since at least, OneUI5.0. Continuing to complain here will get you nowhere. You have to put in formal feedback for your issue to be registered with the developers.

I'm not insisting on proof that multiple people are complaining, I know they are. You stated a specific volume range, of which you have no proof. And anyone complaining on a tech forum is not complaining to Samsung, they are shouting into the wind. The ONLY way feedback registers is to put in a report. With enough actual feedback, Samsung may decide to eventually address the issue, but they won't without it.

Report me as much as you want, I will always come back to tell you Modes and Routines is an app, and you are spreading misinformation while continuing to refuse to investigate your own claims.

With all due respect, Samsung for whatever reason decided to remove this feature, why I couldn't say. I too used this feature, did I get upset, yes. But like life, I excepted it, and worked around it by creating a routine.

Workarounds are there for a reason, if you choose not to use the suggestion that was put forth to you, that is your choice.

By definition a Workaround is indeed a solution !
