My phone recently updated. I just noticed when I open the call app and look at my contact list all the entries seem to be there but the names and numbers are missing. Any help is appreciated.

I  figured out what the issue was. It was the light/dark mode feature. It was in light mode which made the background behind the contacts white and the text color was also white. It was there just couldn't see it because it was the same color as the background. Switched to dark mode and now everything is visible.

Try wiping the "cache partition" to see if that helps. It's safe and won't remove your settings or app files. Clearing the "cache partition" can help resolve any issues caused by old or corrupted system cache data.

Follow the steps below,

Clear the cache partition
- Turn the phone off (shut down)
- Press and hold the Volume Up key, then press and hold the side key.
- When the Android system recovery menu options show release buttons.
- Press the volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
- Press the side key to select.
- Press the volume down key to highlight yes, then press the side key to select.
- When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system is now highlighted.
- Press the side key to restart the device.

Also, clear the "contacts" app cache by going into
- Device settings
- Apps
- Contacts
- Storage
- Tap clear cache6upxgmuEKb.jpg

Thank you for the response. I followed your instructions and wiped the cache partition as well as cleared the contact app cache. This did not solve my issue. Still cant see contact names. Any other suggestions?

Edit: I just noticed this issue seems to be in the dialer app. If I open my contacts using the contact app everything is normal and the names are not blank. I also noticed all my recent calls are blank just like contacts in the dialer app

Reset the phone app by clearing the data. This will not delete your contacts (just to be safe, make sure your contacts are backed up to Google or a .csv file), but may delete the call list (which isn't showing anyway). It will erase any settings you changed for the phone from the defaults.
