How come I keep losing all my contacts from my groups I created?

They are still in my main contact list but when I go to my groups to send a message the group contact list is gone.

Maybe the users left the group? Have you tried reaching out to them to confirm

Are you sure your groups are gone? The groups are located between favorites and the letter A in the contacts app. The individual contact info will show if they've been added to a group, so if a contact indicates a group membership, the group exists.

The groups are not gone, the contacts that I populate into the groups are gone. I tried adding contacts to groups or adding a group to the contact and after a while all the contacts that were in the group are gone.

Have you tried clearing the data from the Contacts app?  Clearing the data refreshes the app without deleting your contacts - only your settings. You will have to recreate your assignments of custom ringtones to contacts, groups and group members, and favorites.
