Galaxy S24Since I updated to UI 7, the location icon has started showing in the top bar. I know phone services use it constantly, but before, it only appeared when an app used the location. Please fix this.

Galaxy S24I don't think they fully updated the compatibility in QuickStar yet and/or the developers of OneUI7 just don't want you to be able to add indicator icons to your status bar and locked the Good Lock team out of those controls. I'm really hoping it's just an update issue because there are some icons I really want to keep on my status bar and I also want the ability to keep my clock on the right side, where it belongs not on the left.

Galaxy S24I have the same issue after the update to ui7. When location is on, and the phone is in Mobile data mode instead of wifi, "Phone services" is accessing location every 5 or 10 seconds, thus triggering the location icon to appear every 5 or 10 seconds. I don't want to hide the icon, i want phone services to stop this excessive behavior, it could be affecting performance and battery. Please don't mark this as solved ever. Let this discussion stay open as new and improved solutions arise. Thank you.

Galaxy S24You know that mobile services was always doing that, how else do you think your phone knows where to find the most efficient towers? It's just that now, the location icon seems to be a permanent fixture on the status bar. If you have location services on, all the apps that are using your location send out a periodic beacon saying, "here I am". They don't all do it at the same time, so it may appear that your location is continually in use (it is, but now you are seeing that it is). You can hide the icon, but your location will still be accessed when needed. You can turn off location services, but then you won't be able to use certain apps at all until you turn it on - Maps, find, weather, oh, and your phone service. The location beacon uses negligible battery resources. Check it for yourself in battery usage.

Galaxy S24No one is tracking your location 100% of the time (except perhaps for Google find). Location has always been active, but the icon usually only appeared when an app *you granted permission to* took a peek at where you are. Apparently, in the new UI, the icon stays active and turns green when in use. This is to let you know your location is being accessed - much the same way the camera and mic show a green light when in use. Each access instance is not necessarily from the same app - different apps check at different times. If you granted permission for certain apps to always use location, it still does not continually check, just peeks on a regular basis. The location beacon does not use any battery power on its own, but the app using it probably does. I imagine you can turn location access off, but then you will have to manually turn it on when you want to use apps that use your location, such as find my device and maps, and any store where you want to check pricing.
I think people are imagining that an item is draining their battery. I assume you just got the update. After any OS/UI update, battery drainage is more severe as the new system is setting itself up and putting everything in place. Things happen in the background that you are unaware of - app updates, further updates to the OS. It takes a week or two for things to settle down and the battery must relearn your usage patterns. Because you have never continuously seen the location beacon, you assume that's what's causing the drain when, in fact, it is all the other stuff that's going on. Not to even mention that after an update like this you are definitely using your phone more in doing your own re-arrangements and getting to know the new settings.
