Is Samsung going to implement a swipe function in their Messaging app as google has with their messaging app? The google messaging app is a lot more user friendly but but samsung should be mimicking that.

Why not just use Google Messages? Samsung has given many indications that they're moving away from their own messaging app.

True, that's what I'm using, but I've got conflicting stories.Do you know if Samsung Cloud backs up the Google messaging?I'm getting one answer as yes and one answer is no I don't think they know besides that, who does the operating system Google? So why don't they just use it as default.

@jedklang Text messages are stored in a database on your phone. They are accessible to any messaging app that you use. They are not stored in a messaging app. Therefore when Samsung Cloud backs up your messages, it is backing up that database. It doesn't matter what messaging app you are using.

@LongHiker provided a great explanation of how messages get backed up with Samsung Cloud.

Yes, Google makes the Android OS and Samsung layers their skin (One UI) on top of it. Samsung is a unique OEM in that they offer their own version of many Google apps. Other OEMs simply bundle Google apps into the OS.

EDIT - Tangential info about Samsung Cloud:

That's good to know, because they were lying to me. I was chatting with someone at Samsung yesterday. And they literally thought I was using the Google Messaging app. When I was using the Samsung. It couldn't tell the difference
