Samsung message app

Is Samsung going to get rid of their messenger app? When I opened the app yesterday several times, it kept popping up for me to try to use the Google messenger app. Seems weird they would advertise it unless they are getting some form of money exchanged. 

Also, can they please bring back read receipts please if the app is staying.

Sadly, they're shutting down their old messaging app and replacing it with Google Messages, i already use it and love it

Interesting. Wonder if they're getting out of the software biz for their phones. Seems they rely more and more on apps to do various things on their phones that should just work without an app. I guess some stupid patent or lawsuit might be to blame.
