My Galaxy S23+ has the flip case from Samsung that has a card slot on it. When I flip the front cover over to the back with my debit card inserted and NFC is on, the phone beeps and vibrates like it would when tapping on a card reader. So it seems the phone thinks my debit card is a card reader.

I currently just switch NFC off but it's annoying to do everytime.

Any suggestions? I have rebooted the phone many times and everything is updated. And even deleted the cache and data for Google wallet.

This has happened before and it randomly stopped, I'm guessing something got updated

You won't like the suggestion. Don't keep a card with a chip in a phones card Holder. I thought those holders were supposed to be somehow NFC protected and sliding you would slide the card in chip down. With the card in the case, hiw do you use Samsung or Google Wallet - or don't you? If you don't use one of the e-wallets ehy don't you? Put you card in your regular wallet and use one if the e-wallets. It's safer. I also made a routine that keeps NFC off until I open a wallet and turns it off when I close the wallet.

Yeah i use Google wallet. I just have the card for backup in case a place doesn't do tap such as some gas station.

The case is a flip cover case with the front cover holding the card.

You can keep your card in your regular wallet for that possibility, since most major gas stations use tap to pay now. I would imagine even using an e-wallet, having the card readable in the holder would confuse the NFC scanner. Like I said, I always thought those card cases had NFC protection. If you do want to continue to keep the card there, try my routine to automatically turn NFC on and off when the wallet opens and closes, Google Wallet has you turn it on and then leaves it on unless you turn it off. NFC doesn't need to be on all the time. Samsung Wallet, by contrast, turns NFC on when in use and off when the transaction is complete.

You can't keep a credit card next to one of the Flip suit cards, there is an NFC chip in the card.
Put your CC somewhere else or use a different case.
