I'm not sure what you mean by background pages. Are you saying your screen is all covered up with apps? If this is the case, you can remove the apps from the home page and they'll still be installed and accessible on the apps page. You can add folders to your home screen and group some apps in them. Or you can make folders in your app page to keep them organized. I have one called games, one called health, one called Google, one called utilities, etc.
