Screen that shows when phone is turned on.

Okay, the screen that flashes when the phone is turned on. What is that screen called and how do I access to make changes to it. It currently comes up with an ugly looking clock and it's driving crazy.

Lock screen i think you're referring too

Nope. The lock screen is easily accessible, this one is not so easy. Phone boots up and this screen tells you to swipe for access and takes you to the lock screen. But thanks for answering.

Are you talking about how the lock screen goes to the default stacked clock appearance on boot?

No way to change it, it will show the default until you unlock the phone and the lock screen initializes and restores your previous settings. Once the phone fully starts, you can customize it to your liking.

How often are you rebooting your device that this is bothering you?

Yeah, I hate the ugly clock too.  But, at least when I see it I know that my phone has restarted, as it is sometimes wont to do for a silent update.  I also sometimes restart my phone and get sidetracked during the boot process, so seeing the ugly clock reminds me to unlock and let the phone finish starting up.  I'm also irritated by the default Samsung keyboard to enter my password, since none of my settings are active until the phone is unlocked.  I don't have a canary over it though - I just unlock and move on.

Search for Always On Display in Settings. You can turn it off if you don't like it.

That start screen has nothing at all to do with the AOD.

I reboot only when necessary but that clock really bothers me. Who came up with that ugly thing anyway? Someone at Google I guess.

It's a clock. It's the base clock.  When your phone is started up, before it's unlocked, the phone has no access to your personal customization settings, so you get a basic clock and basic keyboard.  As stated, there is no way to change it, it is what it is. How long do you look at it - 3 seconds maximum?

Bottom line is I don't like seeing it even for only 3 seconds. I don't like it, don't want it. It's my phone I should be able to customize it to my tastes. I guess I'll have to hack it to get rid of it.
