You have to make sure that the CVS will match for your region. If a 3rd party vendor will not give you the model code or CVS don't buy from them. You will have problems updating a device. U1 is only a US Model

I understand exactly what your saying and somewhat I support your idea but realistically you could trade in your device for a slight discount on a newer model.
Not only will you get the latest software updates you will get a newer Operating System and a more stable daily driver.
When it comes to phones it is not just the security updates as the poster above said its the motherboard and its capability on handling intense processes and the modern technologies, servers and a whole host of new ways rogue software exploits in the wild through browsers.
I know I sound like a Samsung marketer but its really worth the upgrade. I'd love my besties to get an S25 or S26 when it comes out because it reflects how special they truly are.
