I just bought  an S23 and I refuse to update to the ridiculously ugly and stupid UI 8. Is there any way to stop the constant update reminders? And YES I did turn off the auto download but I still get reminded every day and I want this to stop. It is MY phone and I should get to decide how it looks NOT samsung. Thanks

I use Smart Launcher and my S22u looks the same after I updated. ๐Ÿซถ

So it doesn't have that stupid pill shaped battery life icon?

The pill can't be disabled yet, but you will be able to soon. That option is coming in UI8.5

Really? Are all the changes to the looks going to be optional as well?

No, most of the visual changes are being made to cohere with M3E (Google's new design language, learn more about that here: https://www.androidauthority.com/google-material-3-expressive-features-changes-availability-supporte...)

If you see @Robin621k's post (linked in my comment below) you can see how to apply a UI6.1 icon pack. You can also get some of the old style widgets back using KWGT packs like this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=oneui.rad.kwgt

Except for the battery pill, the look of your phone is entirely optional.  There are many ways to change your phone's esthetic.  You can apply a theme (many are free), choose your wallpapers, your color palette, apply icon packs, use Good Lock's Theme Park to create your own theme and change your Quick Panel colors (which will also change the colors of your notification cards, if you choose).  Unfortunately, certain features cannot be overridden, such as the oblong shaped widgets, but one doesn't really have to use widgets, do they?

Either get another brand or accept the updates

Install NetGuard and block network access to the software update package.
