I assume you mean your phone/data service provider. Given that the S26 range is expected in early 2026 you'd get more benefit from waiting until the S26 range is released. The provider probably sells you a S25U via a price reduction trade-in from your S23U and a loan for the remaining cost by increasing your monthly payment a bit to cover the loan payments for the new phone. They are more interested in the increased cash flow from that loan than which phone is best for you. It's not going to be a long wait for the S26 range and it will be better than the S25 range in enough features to be worth that wait. Your provider won't go out of business while you wait for a planned next version of the Galaxy S phone range.

I have verizon. I'll continue to pay what I already owe but it was a $0 Exchange from the s23 to the s25. I'll still be able to upgrade just as if I continued with the s23

The loan will last for longer if you haven't yet paid off the S23U when you upgrade to a S25U. You might pay the same monthly fee but now the loan term is extended by the loan amount increasing by the after trade-in cost of the S25U.

This year was the first time I did it but instead of taking a T-Mobile loan to upgrade my paid-off S22U to a S25U I fully purchased an unlocked S25U from Samsung using savings and trading in the S22U. I pay something like $23 less per-month than when I was paying the S22U loan. I believe that was a 36 month loan, or a S22U for $828, including the trade-in of the previous phone.

It's really a personal choice, I had the savings to upgrade unlocked and I save $23 per-month as a result. If a new phone comes out every year from Samsung and is offered to you that way by Verizon every time and you accept even every second year then your monthly cost will never reduce, always including the loan payment for the phone. If it's convenient for you then I can't fault the upgrade. I think the S25U is an excellent phone...but the same will be true of the S26U within 6 months.

@maird  They are getting a replacement device through insurance because the insurance company didn't have his model in stock anymore so he will only have to pay the remaining of his old device.  This isn't a upgrade with the carrier its a insurance replacement.

@Prime_Optimization Sounds like a great deal! I traded in my S23 Ultra in January for the S25 Ultra. It's a great phone!

If you find it isn't quite your cup of tea, you can trade in the S25 Ultra for an S26 in January. It would get more trade-in value than an S23 Ultra.

Worst case scenario I'll give it a week after transferring everything over and if I don't like it I'll just send back the s25 LOL

Samsung is failing. I have the Galaxy S23 Ultra 1TB. I also ordered from Samsung and not through the regular route to order and speaking with an agent. I ordered the Galaxy S25 Ultra 1TB and was requesting the unit with the Bluetooth S-Pen. I never heard that agent confirm the Bluetooth S-Pen. I still have the S25 on a second phone number. However, it is only used as a backup phone. I much prefer the S23 for the fact that it has the "Director" for the camera. The only say to you is buyer beware and read everything into what those agents say or don't say.
