Galaxy S23The subject above is a configuration option under Call settings and it's totally without ambiguity. Thus it's a great mystery why it doesn't work and spam calls are let through. What possible challenge could it be to check if a phone number from a caller is not in my addressbook? The only reason I can think of is that it's deliberate and Sammy is generating income from not doing what it says.
Also, instead of wasting everybody's time by forcing AI gimmick 'features' on everybody do something useful with AI capabilities.
An example would be to have an automated silent AI answering feature on my phone that allows me to configure unknown callers to explain themselves within 5 to 10 seconds and then block the number when it is deemed spam and/or phising, etc. The user should also be able to quickly review a specific call.
However, such a feature is no excuse for not taking steps to make the promised "Block calls from unknown numbers" work.
Cheers!

Galaxy S23What are you resting your case on? That AI generated post above? That says nothing that was not already proffered up as remedies by me and others. You think the spam controls offered are inadequate? Once again, no one owes you the ability to stop spam. If you think what exists natively on your phone is insufficient, there are apps in the Play store that are more efficient. Phone by Google, for instance, has better spam controls built in - change your dialing app.

Galaxy S23@meself Thanks for the clarification. It still would seem appropiate to have proper details on what a feature will actually achieve (i.e. as found pretty much everywhere in the Health app accompanying the Galaxy Watch).
Perhaps you can also clarify if there here is anywhere to post suggestions to new features / improvements? I'm aware one can tag a new post as a 'suggested feature' but it has its advantages to have this in a dedicated sub-forum.
In that context, history shows that what may presently be considered the norm is in reality highly dynamic in most aspects of technology and societal development.
In my view Sammy is more of a follower than an innovator so I can only hope that what you call "a user issue" will continue to change with the increased capabilities of devices. Just look at how the just released iOS update 26 allows to:
Silence Unknown Callers: Send calls from unsaved numbers directly to voicemail.

Galaxy S23- Blocks Hidden Numbers: This feature is primarily designed to stop calls where the caller has intentionally hidden their number (often displayed as "Private Number" or "No Caller ID").
- Does Not Block Unsaved Contacts: It does not block calls from people who have a visible phone number but are simply not saved in your personal contacts list.
- Sends to Voicemail: Calls from these blocked numbers are typically sent directly to your voicemail, and your phone will not ring or display an incoming call notification.
- Reduces Spam: Enabling this feature is an effective way to cut down on robocalls and telemarketing calls, as spammers often use hidden or spoofed numbers.
- Open the Phone app.
- Tap the More options (three vertical dots) icon in the top right corner.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Block numbers.
- Toggle the switch next to Block calls from unknown numbers to turn it on.
